Activity Assistant – Sairam Villa

Hours: 20 per week (4 hours per day, including some weekend work)

Pay: £10 per hour

Sairam Villa is a very special place, a state-of-the-art, purpose-built care home in Harrow. Focusing mainly, but not exclusively, on the Asian community, the home caters to service users who require nursing care, suffer from mental health issues such as dementia, or who need end-of-life care. The home has strong links with the local community and is a vegetarian home, catering from the morning cup of chai, to the daal and roti in the evening.

Job Overview:

To keep our friendly home a happy and bright place to be, we are seeking an activities assistant with experience of working in a care home. We need a warm-hearted, enthusiastic and committed individual to help us deliver the type of caring and stimulating environment you’d want your own relatives to have. You’ll be working 4 hours per day, including some weekend work.

You will be absolutely essential to the well-being of the residents that we support. Your role will include devising and implementing meaningful occupational therapies, organising outings when appropriate, as well as events in the home.

We need a programme of activities and events aimed at promoting independence and social engagement, and making certain all our residents have tailored involvement to suit their needs. This may include reminiscence therapy, liaising with residents to take account of their ideas and requests, and contacting providers for music sessions, pet therapy, crafts, puzzles and lots more.

Excellent communication skills are required, as is the ability to work well as part of a dedicated team. Always giving support to our residents and maintaining their dignity and privacy, the whole team strive to provide a happy, stimulating and stable environment.

Successful applicants are required to provide an enhanced DBS disclosure. All appointments are subject to safer recruitment requirements to ensure the safeguarding of adults. All positions will involve appropriate checks and clearances.

Experience Required:

Update DBS check / willing to undergo a DBS check

Minimum of a year’s experience in a care home
