Kitchen Assistant – Orchid Care Home – Maternity Cover

Orchid Care Home is purpose-built and close to the district centre with its shopping and social facilities and good transport links. We have 84 single ensuite rooms, and our residents require nursing care, some have mental health issues such as dementia, and some need end-of-life care. Each of the three floors has its own dedicated care team to ensure continuity. Orchid has several lounges and dining areas, a large cinema room, hair salon, activity room, and a coffee shop which leads straight into our garden. Our residents are supported by our teams to have maximum choice and control of their lives in the least restrictive way possible.

Job Overview:  

To keep our beautiful and friendly home running smoothly, we need a kitchen assistant for 36 hours per week, to cover maternity leave from 21 December 2020. With a flexible and dynamic approach, you‘ll be working with our lovely kitchen team to ensure the lives of our residents are happy, healthy and comfortable.

Ideally, you will have experience of working in a catering environment and hold a basic food hygiene certificate. Previous experience working in a care home environment is desirable but not essential.

Your role will be to help prepare, cook and serve hot and cold meals, and you should have a positive attitude with a desire to provide the best possible results for our residents. Delivering an excellent service at each meal and making our residents feel at home, you’ll understand the importance of maintaining our high standards and ensuring everyone enjoys a pleasant dining experience.

We are looking for genuine, caring and hard-working people who really want to make a positive difference to the lives of our residents.  We will provide you with the support and training you need, including induction and ongoing development.

Registered Nurse – Nights – Newlands

Newlands Care Home is in the heart of Salford and can accommodate 30 residents needing nursing or residential care. Most of our residents follow the Jewish faith, and the home is licensed with the Beth-Din with the inclusion of Kosher meals. We maintain very strong links to the Jewish community via the Jewish Federation, our resident Rabbi, and the local Jewish day centre.

A true home from home, our residents have input in deciding on décor, activities and menus, they are supported to have maximum choice and control of their lives in the least restrictive way possible.

To keep our beautiful and friendly home running smoothly, we need a Registered Nurse with experience of working in a care home to work nights, including some weekends. We need a caring and compassionate individual to help us deliver the type of care you’d want your own relatives to have.

You‘ll be responsible for developing care plans, administering medication and generally ensuring the safety and welfare of all our residents. Promoting best practice within the team to maintain our high standards of care, and maintaining an oversight of all recording, you will also supervise team members to ensure effective team working. You may also be involved with induction, mentoring and training staff as directed. Along with all the day to day tasks there will be the requirement to participate in quality assurance audits.

Successful applicants are required to provide an enhanced DBS disclosure. All appointments are subject to safer recruitment requirements to ensure the safeguarding of adults. All positions will involve appropriate checks and clearances. You will of course, need to have a valid NMC PIN, and have experience in a care setting. We offer paid breaks when on duty, and online training to keep you up to date.

Our landscaped garden compliments the friendly home with seating areas and raised flower beds, and wildlife, including roe deer and squirrels, are regular visitors to our garden. Our professional and supportive team make this a lovely place to live and work.

Job Overview:  

To keep our friendly home running smoothly, we are seeking 2 carers with experience of working in a care home to work our night shifts. We need warm-hearted, enthusiastic and committed individuals to help us deliver the type of care you’d want your own relatives to have.

You will be required to assist with personal care, and give support as defined in the resident’s care plan. Working with the night care team, you’ll be helping our residents get ready for bed, and providing care for them during the night, wherever it’s needed.

Excellent communication skills are required, as is the ability to work well as part of a dedicated team. Always giving support to our residents and maintaining their dignity and privacy, the whole team strive to provide a happy, stimulating and stable environment.
