Kitchen Assistants – Sairam Villa

Sairam Villa is a vegetarian home that caters for 46 residents. It employs around 66 staff. We are currently looking for 2 kitchen assistants, one for 24 hours per week, the other as a bank position. The post holder will be part of the catering team. Some cooking experience in vegetarian cuisine is required.

You will be required to work under the supervision of the kitchen manager/chef, assisting with general duties, such as washing up, cleaning and assisting the chef in preparation of food / vegetables, and some cooking.

You should have some previous experience in a care home or some experience working in kitchen (restaurants or canteens). Previous training in a care home environment would be valued.

A level 2 qualification in food safety is desirable.

Working with the night care team, you’ll be helping our residents get ready for bed, and providing care for them during the night, wherever it’s needed. You will be required to assist with personal care, and give support as defined in the resident’s care plan.

We are looking for genuine, caring and hard-working people who really want to make a positive difference to the lives of our residents.  We will provide you with your uniform, and the support and training you need, including induction, the Care Certificate and ongoing development.

We need caring and compassionate people to help us deliver the type of care you’d want your own relatives to have. With a flexible and dynamic approach to providing person centred care, you‘ll be responsible for developing care plans, administering medication and generally ensuring the safety and welfare of all our residents. Promoting best practice within the team to maintain our high standards of care, and maintaining an oversight of all recording, you will also supervise team members to ensure effective team working. You may also be involved with induction, mentoring and training staff as directed. Along with all of the day to day tasks there will be the requirement to participate in quality assurance audits.
