Cavell Manor is a purpose-built home opened in December 2021 in the centre of Woodbridge in Suffolk, close to local amenities and all that the area has to offer, including shopping, social activities and coffee shops. The home has strong links with the local community and provides for residents requiring nursing or residential care, for those living with dementia, or needing end-of-life care.
Cavell Manor has its own minibus to get out and about in the community. Attending local community centres and places of worship, museums, and country parks are just some of the activities enjoyed. The home can care for 55 residents in single rooms, all of which have ensuite wet rooms and underfloor heating.
All rooms have telephones and TV channels. The home has two floors of accommodation plus a basement where the cinema and hair salon are located. Cavell Manor has a variety of areas for our residents to enjoy, including four lounges, three dining areas, a sensory room, a family dining room, two screened balconies, a hair salon, and a pamper therapy room. Access to our garden is through reception, or directly from individual ground floor bedrooms, via their patios. Our landscaped garden has been designed to provide quiet private areas, as well as larger spaces for gardening or socialising. The balconies are a lovely useable space which is enclosed for safety. Being located in Woodbridge, the home benefits from good local transport links, ensuring family and friends can visit often, and there is a bus stop just outside the home. The home also benefits from a car park.
Cavell Manor has been professionally designed with the local community in mind, using natural colours and fabrics to reflect the area. The reception area has a café where residents and their loved ones can share a coffee and a homemade cake, it also has a living wall of plants to bring the outside inside. The home has been designed using the most up to date research and knowledge to ensure residents are in an appropriate environment to meet their needs. Our qualified chefs meet regularly with the residents to develop and review the menu. All meals are prepared in-house from fresh produce to ensure a high quality of food is maintained and a good dining experience is achieved. We feel meal times are a very important part of our day and understand that everyone is different, so we go to great lengths to ensure all needs and wishes are met. All special dietary requirements are able to be accommodated. Our highly trained and dedicated care team consists of a manager, a deputy manager, a clinical lead nurse and our 24-hour nursing team, a head chef and supporting kitchen staff, a highly skilled care team, maintenance and domestic teams. Our staff members are trained above the national guidelines for care assistants. An activity coordinator complements the team as the relationship between meaningful activities and keeping healthy and happy is important, and recognised as improving residents’ wellbeing in care settings. Activities are tailored to encompass group as well as individual activities as requested by the residents.
Here we care for residents who primarily require nursing care, those living with dementia, and those needing end-of-life care. This is a specialised area of care in which we ensure all our residents, family, and friends, as well as staff, are supported throughout. We put a high importance on quality of life, so our activity coordinator directs and supports the residents in maintaining hobbies and interests wherever possible, ensuring each person’s day is enriched, and that their life experiences and knowledge are valued and respected.
“Cavell Manor is a home away from home and offers nursing and residential care in a family-friendly environment that encourages independence and a quality of life.…”
