Orchid Care Home is a purpose-built home which opened in March 2013 in the centre of the new developments in Swindon. It is close to the District centre and all that area has to offer in terms of shopping and social activities. In the county of Wiltshire, the home caters to service users who require nursing care, suffer mental health issues like Alzheimer and dementia, and need end-of-life care. The home has strong links with the local hospice. Recently there has also been inclusion of a sweet shop in the reception area, available for residents and visiting families.
Orchid Care home has its own mini bus to get out and about in the community. Attending the local museums, visiting country parks, and enjoying pub lunches are just some of the activities enjoyed.
The Home can care for 84 service users, in single rooms, all of which have en-suite wet rooms. The home consists of 3 floors, with each floor having its own dedicated Care team to ensure continuity of care. Orchid Care Home has a variety of areas for our service users to enjoy, including 6 lounges, 6 dining areas, a large cinema room, a hair salon, and coffee shop, which serves homemade cakes daily. The coffee shop doors lead straight into our garden, which compliments the home and includes seating areas and raised flower beds, where those who wish to continue their gardening hobby and interest may do so. Our garden is a well-used space; especially at party time. The home also has an activity room to enjoy, as well as a library area with a snooker table.
Being located in Swindon, the home benefits from good local transport links ensuring family and friends can visit often. The home also benefits from a car park.
“We at Orchid pride ourselves in delivering optimum levels of care to those that reside with us. The facilities in the home are second-to-none, and the ample space around the home enables the service users to be independent and enjoy their individual pursuits in a safe environment…”
