Mabbs Hall care home is in the Centre of Mildenhall, in the county of
Suffolk, and caters for service users who require nursing care; some of whom may have mental health issues. With our advantageous location in the centre of the town, we have strong links with the community, allowing the care home and Day centre to be an integrated part of the community.
The home can care for 29 service users, mostly in single rooms with en suite toilets. We also have two double rooms, so that, over the years, this facility has enabled married couples to stay together. The home has a variety of spaces for the service users to enjoy, including 2 lounges and a dining area. Our landscaped garden compliments the home with seating areas and raised flower beds that enable those who wish to continue their gardening hobby and interest. Roe deer and squirrels are amongst some of the regular visitors to our garden. One year, we had a duck and her ducklings take up residency in the garden.
Being in the centre of town, with a good car park and good local transport links ensures family and friends can visit often.
Regarding the recent report published by CQC: We do not feel that this is a fair refection of Mabbs Hall, we challenged the factual accuracy of this report as we don’t believe the CQC has taken our comments into account properly, especially in evidencing the positive points of the inspection. We are however, working hard to improve Mabbs Hall and we shared our own improvement plan with the CQC at the time of the inspection. We are continuing to develop and enhance Mabbs Hall, for the benefit of all interested parties.

The home is tastefully decorated, with service users having had input into the décor. We truly feel the home is their home, and the service users direct the business accordingly.
Our qualified chefs meet regularly with the service users to develop and review the menus. All meals are prepared in-house from fresh produce to ensure a high quality of food is maintained and a good dining experience is achieved.
We feel meal times are a very important part of our day and understand that everyone is different, so we go to great lengths to ensure all needs and wishes are met. All special dietary requirements are able to be accommodated.
Our highly trained and dedicated Care team consist of a Manager, who solely dedicates their time to Mabbs Hall Care Home, a Clinical Lead Nurse and full 24 hour nursing team, head chef and supporting kitchen staff, a highly skilled care team, and maintenance and domestic teams. Our staff members are trained above the national guidelines for Care Assistants.
An activity coordinator complements the team, as the relationship between taking part in activities and keeping healthy and happy is important with older people in care settings. The benefits of taking part and socialising with others can hugely improve their lives.
Mabbs Care Home cares for service users who primarily require nursing care and mental health issues. We put a high importance on quality of life, so our activity coordinator directs and supports our service users in maintaining hobbies and interests wherever possible, ensuring each person’s day is enriched, and that opinions and knowledge are valued.
