ANOTHER BOAT TRIP…

Another Boat Trip

The Residents from Birchy Hill enjoyed another Boat trip on the “Alison MacGregor”.

This time we could come very close to the cruise ship ‘Aida Perla’. We had another lovely sunny day out.

Everybody loved the trip and had lots of stories to tell when we arrived back home.

WORK EXPERIENCE AT BIRCHY HILL

Three young students from New Milton and Ringwood joined us in July to get some “work experience” in a care home.

The Kitchen staff, Nurses and Activity staff introduced them to a variation of equally important duties in a care home.

All three happily joined in and enjoyed their tasks.

Thank you, guys, for your interest in Birchy Hill and for your help!

REDECORATION…….

We have decorated one of the rooms and made it into an inside garden.

We are really pleased with it – the Residents and Families love it too.

They do activities in here – dine in here if they wish and an all round quiet room to relax.

CELEBRATING THE ROLE OF ART IN CARE

‘’Care Home Open Day is now in its 7th year.

This year’s theme was celebrating the role of “Arts in Care”.

It encourages homes to open their doors to celebrate a different theme each year, with a few key values at its heart – Friendship, Making Connections and Celebrating Older and Vulnerable People.

The creative arts play a key role in encouraging self-expression, sharing emotions and reminding everyone that many Residents have talents that come to the fore when given the right environment to flourish.’’ (Sylvie Silver, NAPA)

This year’s Care Home Open Day took place on Friday 28th June 2019.

In the morning Birchy Hill held an art competition in the Sensory Garden and in the conservatory. Residents were completing their art designs and families and friends were invited to join in. When all artwork is completed, it will be on display in Peggy’s Café.
