NEWLANDS CANARIES

Newlands had a surprise visitor yesterday in the form of a Canary outside, whilst we were being entertained by one of our artists, to our surprise if flew in and let me hold it.

A year ago the same thing happened in a Residents room and a Staff member kindly took it home.

After consulting our Residents we all decided they were meant to be with us at Newlands so we have 2 sisters aka Ann and Angelina in memory of the people they visited.

RESIDENTS CELEBRATING SUMMER 2017 AT BIRCHY HILL

The annual Residents’ BBQ was a great success.

With the wonderful sunshine, lovely guests, yummy food, and cheerful entertainment by MUSK, the Milton Ukulele Strummers Klub. Everybody enjoyed the afternoon to the full.

The very engaging music made everyone tapping or even singing to the well known tunes. Our Residents and their guests were extremely happy and left the party in the late afternoon.

Saturday night everyone went to bed with a big smile on the face.

A very big “Thank you” to MUSK who delivered first class music, and to our Chef Alan who prepared a delicious BBQ .

GO WEST AT BIRCHY HILL

Birchy Hill’s “Cowboys and Cowgirls” welcomed the Country and Western Singer Danny Stone with a loud “Yee Haw” to start an afternoon full of campfire romance.

Everyone enjoyed the tunes like “I Want to be a Cowboy’s Sweetheart”, “Oh My Darling, Clementine”, or “The Lonesome Rider” – just to name a few songs of Danny’s repertoire. The Residents and their guests were clapping and tapping to the cheerful music.

Historically Western music was directly influenced by the folk music traditions of England, Wales, Scotland, and Ireland, and many cowboy songs, sung around campfires in the nineteenth century.

It directly related musically to old English, Scottish, and Irish folk ballads. Western music celebrates the life of the cowboy on the open ranges and prairies of Western North America.

Thank you Danny Stone for taking us to the “Wild Wild West”.

“THE BOYS” PLAYING A FRIENDLY MATCH

On Wednesday night in New Milton at the Recreation Centre:

Birchy Hill’s Male Care Staff built two teams to play a 5-aside football match.

They all played with great enthusiasm, but also lots of laughter.

12 “winners” left the indoor pitch after 90 minutes of fun.

Management and Female Colleagues are very grateful that nobody got injured.

Well done “Boys”!
