At Birchy Hill we proudly honoured WWII veteran Group Capt. J.R. TANNER on the 75th VE Day celebrations.
We’d dearly like to thank the families who shared these interesting and moving stories, and photos of their loved ones.
As Birchy Hill’s beautiful grounds allow us social distancing, and the summer days are here, the residents had a delightful time in the garden with pre-lunch drinks along with piano entertainment by Mark Bussell. Mark will be playing weekly for our residents. Welcome back!
Activation of the senses such as smell, vision, and touch helps our residents at Birchy Hill recall positive memories and emotions, and encourages them to communicate and engage with the people around them.
Whether they are playing ball games or scrabble, having a relaxing time reading or browsing a magazine, watering the garden or stimulating the senses, residents at Birchy Hill are busy and happy.
“Stay active, stay independent” is part of our residents’ lifestyle at Birchy Hill.
We acknowledge the importance to health of regular exercise, therefore we organise a mix of moderate and vigorous-intensity physical activities every week, such as exercising to music as well as a variety of games.
Barratt London has donated a tablet to Sai Ram Villa Care Home on Headstone Drive, Harrow, to help residents stay connected with friends and family during the Covid-19 outbreak.
The tablet, which was delivered to the care home this week, will be available for all residents to use to keep in contact with loved ones, which will help to improve mental health and wellbeing.
Everybody at Sai Ram Villa Care Home said: “We are so thankful that our residents can now stay connected to their families during this time. Everyone at Sai Ram Villa is extremely happy that they can now see and talk to their children, grandchildren and other loved ones. Our thanks go to Barratt London for its generous donation of the tablet.”
Ed McCoy, Sales and Marketing Director for Barratt West London, said: “As residents at Sai Ram Villa Care Home are unable to receive visits from loved ones due to current social distancing measures, residents are relying on technology to keep in contact with friends and family. We hope that our donation will help residents feel more connected to loved ones during these unprecedented times.”
As part of its UK response to support the fight against coronavirus, Barratt Developments has also gifted £100,000 to the NHS Charities Together appeal, which supports 250 NHS charities across the UK collectively. It has also donated personal protective items, including thousands of high quality FFP3 face masks, gloves and hand sanitiser, to local NHS hospitals and social care services.
Ed McCoy adds: “It is essential for companies like us to donate this essential equipment to where it is urgently needed, and support those who are on the frontline. We are indebted to the NHS and other key workers, and so where we can assist with their efforts and help to save lives, both here in Harrow and across the UK, we will continue to do everything we can.”
