Orchid hid the Christmas Elf everyday and the one who found him won a prize

The Bagpiper came to celebrate Christmas again in December 2017 and he was a massive hit with our Scottish Residents

Clive Ashton celebrated his birthday in style.

As an addition to the usual celebrations, he enjoyed a musical afternoon in Peggy’s Café with a tiny glass of ‘G+T’.

Every Birthday at Birchy Hill is celebrated with a proper birthday cake (not always with the right number of candles), balloons, and birthday banners.

Luis Andrade plays a little birthday song on the piano and the Staff and the Residents sing ‘Happy Birthday’. Then birthday cards and presents are opened, and we make sure that it’s a great day for everyone.

Last weekend we celebrated 3 birthdays: May Leadbetter’s (to be seen in the photograph), Clive Ashton’s and finally our nurse Juliet Sing’s 60^th; she was very shy and didn’t want to tell us, but we lifted her secret.

A very ‘Happy Birthday’ from all of us!

“I had one just like this!” was a Resident’s reaction when she saw our new record player.

Last year Birchy Hill received a donation of a large amount of records (LPs and Singles). We then purchased a retro style record player and brought the two together.

At the weekend we had our first little retro music party which was a great success with all present. Drinks and chocolates were offered, and you could hear everybody singing and humming to the old-time songs.

For sure, this will become a regular activity in Birchy Hill.
