6 NEW LADIES ARRIVE AT BIRCHY HILL

Please welcome our “6 New Chicken Ladies” who recently moved into their lovely chicken house in the bottom of Birchy Hill’s Garden.

The ladies are called Mildred and Georgina, donated by Bruce’s daughter Tina, Sally, Agnes, Myrtle and Daphne, who moved in just a few days later.

They are all well and are looking forward to providing us with yummy eggs.

A big ‘Thank you’ goes to the Glanville family!

AFTERNOON TEA WEEK…

Sometimes the wait for dinner is far too long, and when lunch has passed by too many hours ago, and the length of the day is starting to wear out our Residents. When this happens, it’s time to settle in with a warm cup of tea, a lovely cake and some light sandwiches.

Afternoon Tea Week taps into the British Tradition of afternoon tea to help bring a bit of elegance and pomp to an otherwise unremarkable time of day.

Birchy Hill celebrated this tradition with two afternoons having a wonderful High Tea served to our Residents and their Families.

A big thank you goes to Samantha Nash, our Head Chef, who spoiled us with her yummy creations!

LET THE WIND BLOW……..

Let the wind blow the washing!

A new project for all units at Birchy Hill, this was to create stimulating scenes of drying the washing on a sunny windy day.

With the help of our ‘own’ artist Romeo, who created lovely background paintings, and some DIY skills from Gordon, Head of Maintenance, we then only needed to put up some clothes with dolly pegs and leave a basket full of ‘washing’ to get the Residents interested.

We used the principle that “less is more” and displayed a few familiar items that can help your loved one to engage with an activity they remember.

What a great idea – Well done Birchy Hill

MUSICAL ENTERTAINMENT WITH NIGEL REVILL

The ladies loved Nigel, and the gentlemen loved his music!

Nigel Revill’s voice was accompanied by his guitar tunes and made the Residents getting up from their seats to dance together in a big circle.

It was an hilarious atmosphere putting everybody in an excellent mood.

Thank you Nigel – We will see you back soon!

SOCIAL CLUB IN ASHLEY

Once a month, the Birchy Hill’s Residents are joining a Social Cub in New Milton-Ashley.

This time they were not only having their cup of tea, they were not only listening to “Caryn Morant’s” music, no but they were dancing (as you can see in the photographs).

A very happy afternoon full of fun and laughter for the whole group.
