NEW TO BIRCH HILL..

Residents and Relatives alike were more than happy when they saw the new addition to our existing garden benches.

Next to the main entrance we got 2 new benches, painted in the company’s colours – blue and gold.

Residents were taken out by their Family members and Friends to have a little rest on the new garden furniture after a walk through the gardens or just to enjoy the lovely view.

FISH ‘n’ CHIP SUPPER…..

……with the Families

Residents, Families and Friends all came together for a lovely Fish and Chip Supper on Friday. There was also a salad and a yummy pudding on the menu. It was a great opportunity for all Relatives to sample food that “Our Residents have on offer regularly”

As a special treat we got our own little fly over from the Bournemouth Air Show. A Spit Fire plane and a Lancaster Bomber from the Memorial Flight Show passed Birchy Hill so low that we could see them giving their salute to our Union Jack flag in the back garden.

It was a great performance. Residents, relatives and staff were facinated.

Listening to Alastair Hume’s Piano music, all our guests finished the delicious supper with a glass of wine in their hands and a smile on their lips.

A big ‘Thank you’ to everyone who helped making this happen!

AWARDS GIVEN IN BIRCHY HILL…

Highflyers and a new Dignity Champion

Birchy Hill has two new Highflyers.

The award for July went to Dana Gotia, Leisure and Lifestyle Organiser, for her passion for delivering person centred activities. She is motivated and engaging and has a very positive attitude. Dana’s Dignity Championship was also renewed.

For August Laura Custodio, Teamleader (Care), was awarded the ‘Golden Wing’ for being always ready to support and help the Service. She is very hard working and flexible. Laura ensures high standards are maintained. She is a very happy caring person.

Jane Coast, Housekeeping Assistant, was announced being one new Dignity Champion. Jane has always an open ear or a helping hand for our residents. She is a supportive and very caring person.

Well done!

Congratulations from everyone at Birchy Hill and Angelcare plc.

GENERAL STAFF MEETING

A very big ‘Thank you’ goes to our Manager “Mark”, who arranged our General Staff Meeting in the Sensory Garden. Instead of us all sitting in an overheated conservatory, we could feel the sun and a light breeze, which put everybody in good form.

Mark welcomed new staff and updated us on lots of new regulations. Staff had their word too. 90 minutes later everybody went back to their duties and also informed the staff who stayed with our residents for the time being.

NOT JUST FOR THE SCOTTISH..

The 2019 Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo celebrated the “Kaleidoscope” which featured a colourful talent from around the world on the magnificent esplanade of Edinburgh Castle.

This spectacular annual variety show with military bands and hundreds of performers from around the world, set against the iconic backdrop of Edinburgh Castle was our Residents’ entertainment last Sunday night.

Obviously, they could only watch the televised show in their lounges, but it was a great change of scenery. Our Scottish flag was waving in the wind and the Scottish whiskey was ready. Everybody was happy enjoying this wonderful show.

Slàinte mhath – Cheers Scotland!
